![]() Thanks to the reliability of the forklift trucks supplied by Impact Handling, Panasonic has been able to move an unprecedented number of the latest plasma and LCD televisions in time for the World Cup. The combination of high quality Toyota equipment and superior service is what led electronics giant Panasonic to purchase 50 forklifts and sign a five year sales and service contract with Impact Handling. Impact Handling was selected, following a strict tender process, due to its responsiveness and its solid reputation for consistently delivering high quality equipment and service. Colin Ingram, Area Sales Manager at Impact Handling, worked closely with Panasonic to establish its particular requirements and advise on the most effective solutions. The Northampton distribution centre is the hub from which all its products are delivered throughout the UK and experiences fluctuating demands on its supply chain. To ensure a seamless operation, Impact Toyota appointed a Toyota-trained engineer to provide on-site maintenance and support at all times. Safety is always a major concern in warehouse environments and Panasonic takes specific precautions with regard to its employees and the integrity of its products. Impact Handling ensured vehicles were fitted with features such as the System of Active Stability (SAS), Toyota’s advanced computerised safety mechanism for enhanced lateral and horizontal stability, as well as energy management and speed control systems for improved performance and vehicle control. Simon Kay, general manager of Panasonic said: “Huge sporting events, such as the World Cup, can strain a distribution operation. If all our equipment were not functioning at full capacity, the supply chain could collapse resulting in disappointed customers – a situation we take great pains to avoid. |
